ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Ubudology is an abstract collage animation film inspired by Noriko Okaku. Through its unique collage technique, the film creates a visually stunning space that tickles the imagination and draws viewers into a surrealistic world that explores the disparity between rich and poor.
We utilise a collage technique to transform everyday objects into a surrealistic world, constructing a familiar yet strange environment.
Through the use of purple as the primary colour palette, it creates a mystical and bizarre feeling that immerses viewers in our surrealistic world.
The music in Ubudology plays a pivotal role in driving the "narrative", starting with a mechanical and repetitive feeling that transitions into a mysterious and bizarre one after reaching a tipping point, leading to a climax and conclusion for our semi-narrative film. Ultimately, it makes audiences question their own perception of reality.
